50 Girlcrushes of 2011: Gillian Jacobs
Britta Perry is the best when she is being the worst. My favorite moments are when is being superior, judgmental and NPR snobby and she tilts her head a bit and wrinkles her nose and I always think to myself, I can’t love you any more than I already do, but then I do. Why? Because she has the ability to be this way, but it is still adorable and charming. Plus, when Britta has her Britta moments, you just know she is about to Britta a situation. Yep, she britta’d it. Britta is a walking disaster, but she always means well. She wants to do good. She wants to help out, but usually her need to control a situation implodes everything around her. Britta will allow herself to get whipped by a grandmother just to prove she is right. Britta will be friends with a lesbian just so she could say she is friends with a lesbian. Britta will offer to pay for LeVar Burton to change a flight just so Troy can spend more time with him even if the check will bounce. Her intentions are always good… it is just the outcome that needs a little work. And the more the show calls her the worst, the more I love her. It is also a nice change to have a lead female character of a show not be completely boycrazy. Something tells me if Britta never gets married that would be fine with her. She doesn’t need a boyfriend to make her happy (but all her boyfriends are pretty terrible). She is living life on her own crazy terms even saying bagel wrong.
